A chara, – We have two choices with our New Year resolutions for 2023.
The first is to pretend that it is 1973 and that we have no need to change our behaviour to save our planet.
The second is to wake up in 2023 knowing that we have have to educate ourselves on climate change. – Is mise,

Sir, – Here are 10 simple resolutions to nourish the soul, mind and heart, by doing things that enhances our levels of happiness.
1) Engage your mind with things that stimulate you.
2) Go for a walk and breathe in the sweet sights and sounds of nature.
3) Read books.
4) Book a weekend away.
5) Have a regular date night with your partner.
6) Do some volunteer work.
7) Smile. It is something that will make other people feel good.
8) Ignore the blowhards and know-alls.
9. Leave the past behind, and live and enjoy, as the song says, “one day at a time”.
10) And above all, stop punishing yourself by trying to measure up to someone else’s standards, and start embracing the fact that you’re perfect just as you are.

Sir, – As we embark on a fresh start, many of us make resolutions to improve our lives in some way. While it’s always important to set goals for ourselves, it’s equally important to choose resolutions that are achievable and sustainable. Here are a few suggestions for resolutions that can have a lasting impact on your overall wellbeing:
1) Practise mindfulness. Mindfulness is the act of bringing your attention to the present moment, without judgment. It can help reduce stress, improve focus, and increase self-awareness. One way to incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine is by setting aside a few minutes each day to sit in silence and simply focus on your breath. You can also try mindful activities like yoga or meditation.
2) Focus on your health. Good health is the foundation of a happy and fulfilling life. Consider resolving to make healthier lifestyle choices, such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep. It’s also important to prioritise your mental health, so don’t hesitate to seek help if you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues.
3) Establish a healthy sleep routine: Getting enough rest is crucial for your physical and mental wellbeing. Make sure you’re getting at least seven to eight hours of sleep each night by establishing a consistent bedtime routine. Avoid screens before bed, create a relaxing sleep environment, and try to stick to the same sleep schedule on both weekdays and weekends.
4) Cultivate a love of lifelong learning: Learning new things can be enjoyable and rewarding at any age. Make a resolution to continuously learn and grow, whether it’s through taking a class, reading a book, or exploring a new hobby. Lifelong learning can keep your mind sharp, boost your creativity, and help you stay engaged and motivated.
As you start the new year, remember to be kind to yourself and take things one day at a time.
The most important thing is to choose resolutions that are meaningful and achievable for you.

Sir, – This year I’m going to shower every day; be myself; be proud of my appearance; remember that I’m allowed to fail and that laughter is the best medicine; smile like a happy person; know that it’s okay to say no; have fun; be brave; make a big difference while being a small person; set realistic goals but keep on dreaming! – Yours, etc,
