Sir, – May I please make a plea to your readers who drive at night? The “auto” setting on your car light-control switch, in many models, does not also turn on your tail lights. Your headlights are on and you therefore assume your tail lights are on too. They are not. It is an incredibly stupid piece of design. However, in low visibility it is extraordinarily dangerous not to have rear illumination.
So if other drivers flash you from behind, think twice before you give them two fingers. You may be completely invisible and a major road hazard. – Yours, etc,
