Sir, – Each of us has his own favourite official excuse for delays in the delivery of infrastructure projects. But the laurel in the end-of-year awards must surely go to Northern Ireland’s Department of Infrastructure. One of the reasons for the repeated delays in upgrading the road linking Derry and Belfast is “the significant amount of work still to be done” (“Roadworks drive Derry residents to despair”, News, December 12th).
It’s hard to argue with that. – Yours, etc,
