Sir, – In his report on the killing of three Israelis (World, November 15th), Mark Weiss refers to “the northern West Bank city of Ariel”.
Ariel is a settlement illegally built by Israel in the occupied Palestinian West Bank in violation of the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention, which forbids the occupying power from “transfer[ring] parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies”. – Yours, etc,
