Sir, – I have not used Irish Rail for a few years, but am embarking on an inter-city rail journey soon. I rang customer service to enquire if there would be a tea, coffee and sandwich trolley on my train. I was told that all food and drink services had been suspended due to Covid some time ago. Well, all our cafes and restaurants are welcoming back customers for almost a year now. I think it is about time that Irish Rail management realised that this total lack of service on our national railway is a disgrace. Their TV adverts give a false picture of luxury and comfort. Yet one cannot even purchase a bottle of water. Time to step up, Irish Rail! – Yours, etc,
MARY FRANCES DOUGLAS,
