Sir, – Bobby McDonagh makes a number of interesting points in relation to the increase in the number of British people moving to Ireland in recent years (“British-Irish friendship lies deeper than political rifts”, Opinion & Analysis, November 9th).
I wonder, however, if it could be added to his analysis the fact that there is undoubtedly a large number of UK citizens who wish to remain living in the European Union, particularly people born in Northern Ireland, given that NI voted to remain in the EU. Accordingly, a move to the Republic makes sense for all those people in terms of geography and language, as well as providing important opportunities for businesses, employment, travel and education. – Yours, etc,
MARTIN McDONALD,
Terenure,
