A chara, – Paul Cullen’s report on the construction of the new National Children’s Hospital in Dublin (News, October 21st) refers to financial details in the minutes of the board meetings of the National Paediatric Hospital Development Board being redacted.
The main contractor, BAM, “declined to comment, saying it was precluded from doing so under the terms of its contact”.
That the details of the spending of public money are not available for public scrutiny is not acceptable and it behoves the Civil Service’s senior officials to ensure that such a clause is not included in future contracts. – Is mise,
