Sir, – Gerry Thornley lists claims for the greatest ever achievement by any Irish sports team and presents a case for the rugby team in their series win over the All Blacks (Sport, September 27th).
He forgot to mention the rowing twosome of Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy. They were both world and Olympic champions in a sport with a much broader base, with at least 150 countries competing worldwide. And they did it backwards. – Yours, etc,
