Sir, – Regarding your correspondent whose wife was organising a luncheon but was unable to buy alcohol on a Sunday morning (Letters, September 20th), may I suggest that it shows little organisation as that has been the law for many, many years.
Perhaps, if her husband is writing to her TD, he might also query why you can buy alcohol in pubs until at least 11.30pm but not in off-licences (10pm mandatory closing).
There is more than one anomaly in the licensing laws.
