Sir, – I note with surprise that the Taoiseach will consider allowing Bertie Ahern rejoin Fianna Fáil, having proposed his expulsion from the party over 10 years ago (“Taoiseach leaves door open for Bertie Ahern rejoining Fianna Fáil”, News, September 15th).
Perhaps it is all a cunning ploy to persuade Mary Lou McDonald to rejoin the party she left over 20 years ago? – Yours, etc,
