Si, – As well as “grabbing” a sandwich (Mary O’Connor, Letters, September 8th), we are also now “impacted” rather than “affected”, suffer price “hikes” rather than “increases”, hear of people being “slammed” rather than “criticised”, and are invited to attend public events of all kinds which “kick-off” rather than “begin” at a particular time (as if they were all football matches).
