Sir, – Michael McDowell’s enthusiasm for retaining the illegal Derrybrien wind farm is as thoughtless as was his support for the behaviour of the then-government in the ineptly handled Corrib gas affair years ago (Opinion & Analysis, August 31st).
The people of Erris simply desired (with the support of An Bord Pleanála) a different landing spot for Corrib gas and its terminal; the people of south Galway simply desire not to have their land, homes, heritage centres and livelihoods destroyed by seasonal flooding.
A bit of thought and research before sounding off would be helpful. – Yours, etc,
