Metrolink and St Stephen’s Green

Sir, – In his letter of July 8th, Jim Coffey mistakenly claims that the construction of the new Metrolink station at St Stephen’s Green will necessitate moving the Fusiliers’ Arch as well as all the mature trees on the north side of the park.

While it’s true that this was part of an earlier iteration of the plan, the emerging preferred route places the station entrance at the other end of the park near Merrion Row, requiring the Wolfe Tone sculpture and Famine memorial to be moved instead. – Yours, etc,

JAMES MacDONNELL,

Dublin 4.
