Sir, – Over the past two months five Irish Times journalists used the word sh**e in writing their columns. There was no reason whatever to justify said usage. Was it meant to be humorous? If so, it failed completely to amuse this reader.
Taking it further, Róisín Ingle based her entire column on this word, using Marian Keyes to justify it (“I have a great Wordle start word – it’s just a bit rude”, People, June 1st).
Are people so bereft of imagination now that in the absence of any other ideas this seems acceptable?
