I imagine that he has been using those phrases since his earliest days of transgression and he clearly believes that (eventual) confession guarantees forgiveness. This may be the creed on which he was raised but political absolution should not be granted so readily. Does his party possess the mettle to impose a meaningful penance? – Yours, etc,
