An article in last Friday’s edition, concerning illegal cigarette sales, wrongly quoted a Revenue spokesman saying that “we need a co-ordinated strategy to reclaim the revenues. The Department of Finance is very concerned due to the hundreds of millions which are lost to the State. It is incredulous that the Department of Health have stated that they have no role to play”. These comments were made by a spokesman for the Irish Tobacco Manufacturers’ Advisory Committee. The error occured in the editing process.
An article in last Thursday’s edition, concerning the ending of a BA in Behavioural Science at the American College, quoted a college spokesman saying that the Psychological Society of Ireland declined to give the college time to recruit the necessary faculty staff. The society has pointed out that the college was given a detailled list of requirments in order to meet accreditation standards and it chose not to accept the accreditation.
