Tottenham Hotspur's injury-plagued defender Christian Ziege, who last week played his first game for 10 months, will be out until the New Year after getting hurt in his comeback match, according to reports.

The Sun newspaper said today. The German international damaged knee ligaments in last Wednesday's 1-0 League Cup victory over West Ham, his first start since sustaining a serious thigh injury last December.

"I can barely believe what has happened," Ziege, 31, told The Sun. "There seems no end to my bad luck with injuries.

"This is yet another setback for me to swallow. My return only lasted an hour."

But Ziege, who has won 71 caps for Germany, said he was determined to fight back.

"Somebody up there seems to want to put my morale to the test...but I will come through."
