Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane hinted today that the Euro 2004 championship could be his last challenge as a French international, thus ruling out any part in the 2006 World Cup finals.

"I want to give everything for Euro 2004," the 30-year-old told France Football.

"With the French team, it is my next challenge. Is it the last? I don't know. If I am talking in this way, it is perhaps because it is a possibility."

The magazine today voted Zidane as the top French player of the year with Arsenal's Thierry Henry in second place and fellow Real Madrid player Claude Makelele in third spot.
