A 17-year-old youth has appeared before a special court sitting today charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of an man in Limerick city yesterday morning.

Gardaí began a murder inquiry after 39-year-old Charlie Craig was killed during a row at Smith O'Brien Avenue Kileely in the north of the city at around 2.30 a.m.

The youth, who cannot be named due to his age, was arrested a short time later.

He was remanded in custody to Limerick Prison until next Tuesday.
