Israeli soldiers opened fire on four Palestinian boys today in the southern Gaza Strip, leaving a 12-year-old seriously injured with a bullet lodged in his brain, hospital sources said.
The four Palestinian boys had been close to the Rafah border with Egypt when the Israeli soldiers shot at them.
A bullet entered Mr Nidal al-Amgay's right eye and then pierced his brain. The other three boys remain in stable condition.
The Israeli army did not have any immediate comment.
Witnesses and hospital sources said the boys had thrown no stones at the Israeli soldiers.
In a separate incident, Israeli soldiers shot an 18-year-old Palestinian in the back seat of a taxi driving on the main north-south road from Gaza City to Gaza international airport, hospital sources said.
Israeli soldiers fired upon the teenager near the Jewish settlement bloc of Gush Katif in the southern Gaza Strip. The Palestinian, who was shot in his back, was catching a flight to Dubai.
