The musical Grease has been wildly popular in London's West End, so you'd think that Luke Goss (formerly of boy band Bros) would be used to the sound of success. But when the crowds at the Irish premiere in the Point on Wednesday night joined in his tuneful rendition of Sandy, he was almost drowned out by the back rows. At the aftershow party in Maestros restaurant next to the Point, Luke said he was "blown away" by the response from the audience.
He was accompanied by his wife Shirlie (formerly of girl band Pepsi and Shirlie) who was more blown away by being in Ireland - "I always really love it here". Other guests at the premiere included Celia Larkin, who was there with friend Bernie Kearney; young Mercedes Huston, who took up her aunt Anjelica Huston's tickets in her absence; Boyzone boy, Keith Duffy and his new wife, fashion buyer Lisa Smith, who were back in Ireland for a belated joint wedding bash with Ronan Keating and his new wife Yvonne Connolly in Ronan's home near Ardclough in Kildare on Friday; Rebecca Storm, who popped down for the party after appearing in Blood Brothers in the Gaiety; The Carter Twins; new boy band NV and their manager Julian Benson; RTE radio's Brendan Balfe and composer Ronan Hardiman.
