Moscow - President Boris Yeltsin was in a stable condition yesterday as doctors ordered him to reduce his workload while he recovers from a flare-up of the ulcer that has dogged him for six weeks, reports said.

Mr Yeltsin was "stable [and] the stomach pains are bothering him a lot less than when he was hospitalised on Saturday," medical sources at the Central Clinical Hospital treating the President said.
