A piece of wreckage, believed to be part of a fishing vessel which disappeared off the Co Down coast almost three weeks was found last night. The wreckage was picked up by a trawler’s fishing net last night.

Three generations of a family of Co Down fishermen, 54-year-old Mr Michael Greene, his 32-year-old son and eight-year-old grandson, both also named Michael, were on board the Tullaghmurry Lasswhich put to sea on the 14th of February.

The massive air and sea rescue operation involving the Irish Navy's Le Eithneand the British Navy's HMS Bangor, was due to end today.

Weather conditions in the area are too rough for a search of the area to continue today. However, the search will resume when once weather conditions improve.

The search area stretched from Dublin to Liverpool to Dundrum Bay, Co Down. At one point some 250 people were involved.
