A French court has sentenced a French neo-Nazi who tried to shoot President Jacques Chirac during the Bastille Day parade in 2002 to 10 years in prison.
Maxime Brunerie, 27, fired a sports rifle as Chirac passed him on the Champs-Elysees at the start of the traditional Bastille Day parade on July 14, 2002. The young man said he wanted to "leave his name in history".
