‘Ready for Hillary’ fundraised $15 million over 2 years

Ready for Hillary has raised $15 million (€14.2 million) and has identified 4 million Hillary Clinton supporters, the group said on Friday ahead of Clinton's election announcement.

The 2-year-old super-PAC (Political Action Committee), founded to help nudge Clinton into the race, had always planned to shut down once she declared her candidacy, and is preparing to finally take that step in the coming days.

The group limited lifetime contributions to $25,000 (€23, 700) per person, but relied largely on small donors.

Ninety eight percent of the 215,000 contributions the group received were of $100 (€95) or less. More than 55,000 were for $20.16 (€19.09), the amount for which the group often asked in fundraising pitches.

Much of the money raised by Ready for Hillary went into building a strong list of supporters that could be used by the Clinton campaign, Emily’s List and other entities supportive of Clinton.

Emily's List, which is another super-PAC that supports pro-choice Democratic female candidates, will get the Hillary Bus, which logged 45,000 miles, as well as Ready for Hillary's Facebook and Twitter accounts.

In all, the group held more than 1,300 organizing and fundraising events in all 50 states and with Democrats Abroad in five countries. Students for Hillary groups formed on more than 200 college campuses.

Ready for Hillary held its final event on Saturday afternoon in lower Manhattan. Representatives Carolyn Maloney, Jerrold Nadler, Nydia Velazquez and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer attended.
