President Michael D Higgins’ second day of his four day state visit to Britain will include lunch with David Cameron and a banquet at the Guildhall.
9am President and Mrs Higgins escorted by Prince Andrew to the Grand Stairs in Windsor Castle to view the colours of the disbanded Irish regiments. These colours have been in the castle since 1922.
10.15am Visit to University College Hospital . The President and Mrs Higgins meet patients and some Irish staff members, past and present.
11.25am President visits the Royal Society to view an exhibition of items related to Ireland and deliver an address on the importance of scientific and technological co-operation between Ireland and Britain.
12.45pm Lunch at 10 Downing Street, hosted by prime minister David
Cameron.
2.15pm President and Mrs Higgins attend a youth workshop at City Hall, entitled Taking Charge of Change Together
3.40pm Courtesy call by deputy prime minister Nick Clegg at Buckingham Palace.
6.30pm President and Mrs Higgins attend a banquet hosted at the Guildhall.
