At least 38 die in India after fuel tank of bus explodes

At least 38 people died after the fuel tank of the bus they were traveling in exploded in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, an official said.

The explosion triggered a blaze at about 5.20am local time today (shortly before midnight Irish time), A. Satya Rao, press secretary to the state’s chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, said on the telephone.

About 48 people were aboard the bus when the accident occurred in the Mahbubnagar district of the state, Mr Rao said.
