Government departments and semi state and private companies in the North will give their employees time off to attend today's trade union rally at Belfast City Hall for a "unifying peace".
Meanwhile, Mr Quintin Oliver, the director of NICVA, an umbrella group for community associations, called for a recognition of "civil society" as a key player in the stalled peace process. Voluntary and community, groups had been working over the past 17 months to contribute to "bottom up" development in the regeneration process, he said. "That has now been shattered by the end of the ceasefire."
