Forty workers from a leading building supplies firm today vowed to strike over a forced redundancy plan.

Forty workers from a leading building supplies firm today vowed to strike over a forced redundancy plan.

The staff, who are members of the Unite trade union, are planning to picket Morris Builders Providers in Waterford.

Workers criticised the company claiming management attempted to select employees to be laid-off rather than allowing voluntary redundancy.

"The decision to withdraw labour was not taken lightly by the staff," said Unite regional officer Sean Kelly.

Pickets are being planned for the premises in Waterford from tomorrow.
