The first three words uttered by a Kilkenny woman after she underwent a fifth liver transplant were: "I'm getting married."

That was in May. Ms Lizzie O'Farrell fulfilled her dream yesterday when she walked down the aisle with Mr Keith Finnegan, also from Kilkenny.

Thoughts of nuptials were far from her mind when she entered Great Ormonde Street Hospital, London, for the transplant on May 14th.

Her life hung in the balance for a few hours and there was a strong possibility her body would again reject the donor organ.

But Ms O'Farrell amazed doctors with a speedy recovery and was home in Ireland 10 days later.

St Mary's Cathedral in the city was filled with friends and family when the couple exchanged vows before local priest Father Dan Bollard yesterday afternoon.
