A woman pedestrian who was hit by a Garda car in Dublin last month has died from her injuries in hospital.

The 74-year-old woman died in Beaumont Hospital this morning.

The incident happened on Clonskeagh Road on the afternoon of Sunday May 22nd when the woman was struck by the squad car and thrown through a bus shelter.

The Garda car then collided with the bus shelter, pulling the roof down.

It is unclear if the two female gardaí in the car were responding to an emergency call at the time of the incident.

The woman is believed to have been either crossing the road or at the bus stop when the patrol car approached the sweeping bend at Vergemount, outside Clonskeagh Hospital.

A Garda spokeswoman said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
