A mother and her two young girls escaped unharmed during an early morning arson attack on their Derry home.

A mother and her two young girls escaped unharmed during an early morning arson attack on their Derry home.

Two wooden doors were placed on top of a bin at the rear of their house in Synge Court at around 2.40am today and set alight.

The flames caused minor scorch damage to the exterior. Police said they were treating the fire as malicious and appealed to anyone who was in the area around the time of the attack and saw anything suspicious to contact them.
