Seven people were taken to hospital and four men were arrested in Limerick early on Monday morning after a row at a local hotel in which a young woman received serious neck injuries.
Bottles were used in the incident, which gardai believe may have started after gatecrashers interrupted a private function in the Greenhills Hotel on the Ennis Road.
The woman had to undergo emergency surgery and according to a garda "was very lucky not to lose her life". The trouble involved about 20 people and began at around 2 a.m.
