A woman (42) has died in an early-morning crash near Thurles, Co Tipperary.
Gardaí said the woman died when her car crashed into a parked truck in Brittas, on the Templemore Rroad at about 1.30 a.m.
A female passenger (19) in the car, who was seriously injured, was taken to Cashel Hospital.
A total of 375 people have died on the State's roads in 2004, 39 more than for all of 2003. In December 2004 alone there have been 29 road deaths.
