Gardaí were last night trying to find a llama on roads around Aughrim in south Wicklow.
Motorists on the Aughrim to Rathdangan road reported seeing the llama, which was wearing a red halter around its neck, grazing at the side of the road yesterday afternoon.
The llama appears to have been on the move as on Saturday motorists on the Aughrim to Arklow road reported one there too.
A spokesman for the Garda Press Office said wooded terrain could make it difficult locating the animal. Motorists in the area were asked to drive with caution. Gardaí said they were following a lead that a local woman was keeping a llama as a pet.
