Racing:Whip Mark made it third time lucky when getting off the mark in the Ratoath Maiden at Fairyhouse. Kevin Manning always had the 7-4 favourite well-placed as Prayer Boat took the field along and he hit the front inside the final furlong.

Whip Mark withstood the late challenge of Phoebe Van Gelder by half a length with Prayer Boat third.

Trainer Jim Bolger’s representative Ger Flynn said: “Kevin said the step up to seven would help. He stayed on well and he is a full-brother to Roches Cross that won in Listowel in June.

“He is progressive and he is coming along physically and mentally. We’ll see how the handicapper treats him now.”
