THE man rattling the collection box in Dublin's Grafton Street this week could hardly have come up with a more arresting slogan.

"Vegetarian meals for the homeless," he shouted. Those who asked. discovered he was a Hare Krishna and indeed intended to provide beef-free meals for the poor. Whether he was getting the money or not was hard to tell, but he stopped people in their tracks.
