Welcome for NI breakthrough

The European Commission has welcomed the weekend's breakthrough in Northern Ireland. In a statement yesterday the Commission said the developments were "a victory for the will of the vast majority of people in Northern Ireland and farther afield. The Commission hopes that the Good Friday agreement can now be implemented in full and that peace and stability can flourish. The European Union has always sought to contribute positively to the peace process and will continue to do so".
