Today’s third round of the English and Scottish FA Cups has been hit hard by the cold weather with more than a dozen games postponed and many more facing late pitch inspections.

By 11.30am, 10 FA Cup matches had been called off, five of them involving premier league teams - Wimbledon v Middlesbrough, Rotherham v Southampton, Coventry City v Tottenham Hotspur, Stockport v Bolton Wanderers and Wycombe v Fulham.

Fulham's away match was postponed late this morning and a Wycombe official said the club were "bitterly disappointed".

"No one could have tried harder to get this game on. The referee said it (the pitch) was marginal but he has erred on the side of caution," the official said.

But Ipswich Town's visit to minor league Dagenham & Redbridge will go ahead, following a morning inspection at the Conference club where nine big heaters thawed the pitch out overnight.

In Scotland, Celtic's game against Alloa at Falkirk's Brockville ground, Rangers's trip to Berwick and Livingston's game at Albion were all called off.
