Severomorsk - Fierce Arctic winds of 55 m.p.h. and stormy seas forced divers to call a temporary halt yesterday to efforts to recover the bodies of 118 sailors who died in the Kursk submarine disaster.

A Northern Fleet spokesman, Mr Vadim Serga, said diving work was suspended because of a sharp deterioration in the weather.
