Mark Waugh will be interviewed by the International Cricket Council anti-corruption investigators early next month over his alleged involvement with an Indian bookmaker.

Australian Cricket Board chief executive Malcolm Speed revealed that Waugh's lawyers had been informed that two ICC investigators would be in Australia in early February to talk to him.

ACB investigator Greg Melick will also question Waugh shortly before the Australian team is due to head to India for a two month tour.

Melick, who recently returned from a fact-finding mission in India, said Waugh deserved an opportunity to give his side of the story after he was named in an Indian police report into match fixing.

Waugh was alleged to have had dealings with Indian bookmaker M.K. Gupta.
