Racing:George Washington has been confirmed as a definite starter in the Breeders' Cup Classic on the dirt at Churchill Downs on November 4th.
Aidan O'Brien's colt will line up against some of the best horses in the world in the Grade One 10-furlong contest - instead of the Breeders' Cup Mile on the same card.
"He will definitely run in the Classic and Mick (Kinane) will ride," said O'Brien. "It opens up the world if he was to win the race and he's in good form."
O'Brien will still unleash a three-pronged attack on the Mile. Ad Valorem, Ivan Denisovich and Aussie Rules will all take their chance.
The latter will again be partnered by Garrett Gomez, who was on board when the three-year-old colt won the Grade One Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland on his last start.
That leaves Kinane with the choice of riding Ad Valorem or Ivan Denisovich.
Scorpion, third in the 2005 St Leger, is O'Brien's sole contender in the Breeders' Cup Turf - completing Ballydoyle's quintet at Churchill Downs.
Kinane's availability in the saddle for Scorpion is in doubt, however, as Andre Fabre's Hurricane Run, owned by Michael Tabor, is also likely to run in the mile-and-a-half heat.
