Sunburn is the most common cause of childhood burns, according to an Irish survey. Among adult groups, those more likely to get sunburned are young adults, single people, males and residents of Munster.
Commenting on the survey on burn injuries commissioned by the company Burneze, Dr Gillian Murphy, consultant dermatologist at Dublin's Beaumont Hospital, said sunburn accounted for 43 per cent of childhood burns and 22 per cent of adult burns in the past year.
