Rugby:In a welcome boost for Tony McGahan and his management team, David Wallace could make his first appearance of the season when an injury-ravaged Munster travel to Glasgow this weekend.

Wallace, available for action after recovering from the back problem that delayed the start of his campaign, is named in McGahan’s initial selection but Friday’s match will come too soon for the likes of Jerry Flannery, Keith Earls and Paul O’Connell.

Munster, who lost Felix Jones, Denis Fogarty and Ian Dowling to long-term injuries last Saturday, may also have to do without veteran prop John Hayes. The Irish international has been included in the squad at this stage but took no part in training today due to back pain.

With Fogarty and Flannery out injured, Mike Sherry will provide back-up for the ever-improving Damien Varley at hooker.

Munster squad:P Warwick, D Barnes, D Hurley, D Howlett, J Murphy, L Mafi, S Tuitupou, S Deasy, R O'Gara, P Stringer, T O'Leary, M Horan, W du Preez, J Hayes, T Buckley, M Sherry, D Varley, M O'Driscoll, D Ryan, D O'Callaghan, B Holland, A Quinlan, P O'Mahony, D Wallace, J Coughlan, N Ronan, D Leamy.
