Montgomery - The former Governor of Alabama, Mr George Wallace, was in a serious condition yesterday at a Montgomery hospital where he was being treated for the lingering effects of a cold, hospital officials said.
Mr Wallace (78), who ran for president four times, arrived by ambulance at Jackson Hospital on Wednesday afternoon and was admitted to the intensive care unit.
