Iestyn Harris will start at outside-half for Wales in their Six Nations game against England at Twickenham today.
His call-up off the bench came less than three hours before kick-off. Llanelli stand-off and goalkicker Stephen Jones was ruled out because of a back muscle spasm.
Former Great Britain rugby league international Harris is expected to take over kicking duties.
Cardiff's uncapped stand-off Nicky Robinson is promoted to what was Harris' spot on the bench while Rhys Williams will be among the substitutes.
