`Voice of France' in exile dies

Paris - The former French foreign minister, Mr Maurice Schumann, a mainstay of French and European politics for half a century, died yesterday, a spokeswoman for the senate said. He was 86. She said Mr Schumann, a member of the upper house, died in hospital. President Chirac hailed him as a passionate servant of France and "one of the century's great witnesses".
