Vodafone customers experienced some difficulty making and receiving calls and texts earlier today after cables were damaged during roadworks in Dublin.

The company said there had been fibre damage as a result of third-party roadworks in the Sandyford/Dundrum area this morning.

"The fibre has been fixed, coverage has been restored and congestion is clearing down. Vodafone apologises to those customers affected," a statement said.
