Northern Ireland-based power company Viridian indicated this morning that trading in line with market expectations.

The company said its results for the first half of the year will benefit from profits on the disposal of property as well as an exceptional gain of almost £108.9 million from the sale of its IT subsidiary, Sx3, last April.

The company which operates the Hunstown power station in Dublin said it was making good progress in talks with the Northern Ireland energy regulator about future pricing.

Construction started on the Huntstown 2 generator in July and completion is expected in Autumn 2007. Though ESB price increases sanctioned by the CER did not fully match inflation in energy input costs, Viridian believes that this situation is manageable for Huntstown.

The company which is expected to publish its next set of interim results in November, said progress is being made towards an all-island wholesale electricity market.
