Mr Eamonn Gavin, an Independent "anti-crime" candidate for Dublin South Central, has criticised the Irish Association for Victim Support (IAVS) for displaying "a public image of political correctness" in failing to condemn criminals.

"Let the IAVS concentrate on supporting crime victims and not helping them to feel more frustrated than they already do," he said.
